LOGO & IDENTITY DESIGN
Zora Neale Hurston Summit
Created for the inaugural summit at Zora Neale Hurston’s alma mater, Barnard College, this logo design draws inspiration from the Harlem Renaissance, reflecting the typography seen in posters, artworks, and book designs of the era.
The wordmark’s bold letterforms honor Hurston’s legacy, while a vibrant, Afrocentric-inspired pattern and color palette create a gender-neutral visual identity to include all admirers of Zora. At its heart, the “O” in Zora shines as a radiant sun—a tribute to her mother’s timeless words: “Jump at the sun. We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground.”
